 Wine Tasting: Pierinvaletta Moscato d'Asti Organic


I enjoyed my first wine tasting at the vintage cellar when I went last week so I decided to go again when they offered free tastings to try some more wines. 

My favorite wine that I tried during the tasting was the Pierinvaletta Moscato d'Asti Organic. This wine is made of 100 Moscato grapes. The country of origin is Italy in the Piedmont region. Its vintage year is 2020. A bottle of this wine retails for $9.95 at the vintage cellar. 

On the timeless wine website they give a review of this wine from the Pierinvaletta winery. Timelesswines.com is an online store that sells wines various wines. They mention that this wine is organic and has a tropical fruity flavor and aroma. "Delicious on its own, but also with sushi or cheese". (Timeless wines). 


Flavors and aromas from the Pierinvaletta Moscato d'Asti Organic wine that correspond with the Wine Folly textbook:

  • Aromas: One of the main fruits I smelt was pear and apple which are in the tree fruit/melon category (page 30). 
  • Grape variety/flavors: This wine is 100% moscato grapes. This grape and its typical flavors is mentioned on pages 138-139. They show that wines with this grape are typically very sweet and high acidity. They also tend to give a pear and honeysuckle flavoring (page 138). 


I did not have this wine with food. When first smelling this wine I smelt the strong fruity aromas. A pear and apple aroma stood out to me immediately. This wine was very very sweet and slightly bubbly. I could taste the pear and apple flavoring that I smelt. I would like to try this wine with some cheese to see if it would balance out the strong sweetness that this wine has.

 Wine T asting : Lodali Moscato d'Asti and Doktor Strawberry Moscato NV 3.) The first wine I tried was the Lodali Moscato d'Asti. The Grape that makes up this wine is Moscato. It originates from Italy, in the northern Italy/Piemonte/Moscato d'Asti region. The vintage year of this bottle is 2022. A bottle ranges from $12-16. The other wine that I tried was the Doktor Strawberry Moscato NV. This wine is made of the Moscato grape with some strawberry flavoring. The country of origin is northwest Italy in the Piemonte region. The vintage year is 2022.   Wine Tasting:  Cantina di Castelnuovo del Garda P inot Grigio della Venezie On Thursday, March 27th, I visited the Vintage Cellar in Blacksburg, VA, for their weekly wine tasting. One of the white wines that they had to sample was the  Cantina di Castelnuovo del Garda P inot Grigio della Venezie. This wine is made up of 100% Pinot Grigio grapes. The country of origin is Italy, in the Veneto region. The vintage year is 2023 and a bottle of this wine retails for $8.95 at the vintage cellar.  I found a total of 37 review of this wine on the Vivino website; which is a website that sells various wines from all over the world. This wine had an average rating of 3.6 out of 5 stars. Most of the reviews mentioned that this wine was dry and crisp with floral aromas.
