Wine Tasting: Burgo Viejo Rosado
I went to the Vintage Cellar in Blacksburg, Virginia for the first time to do one of their free wine tastings. I was able to try 4 different wines at the tasting but for this blog I will be focusing on the sparkling rose wine that I tried and enjoyed.
5.) This wine is made of Garnacha grapes which are also known as Grenache. Page 117-118 talks about the flavors this grape can give. I tasted the smooth strawberry flavor along with hints of raspberry which are caterogized as red fruit, which is a primary flavor. (page 118) These red fruits are also primary aromas that I smelt in the wine. I could smell the fruity aromas of strawberry, cherry, and raspberry. (page 30).
6.) I tried this wine without any food. This wine has a light red coloration. Before tasting the wine I did the swirl and then smelled for specific aromas. I immediately picked out the fruitiness from the cherry, strawberry, and raspberry. This wine was more on the drier side. I found this wine to be smooth, with a slight spice to it, but the main component I picked up with the fruity flavor. The fruity flavor my palate could taste were strawberry, raspberry, and cherry. I also picked a bit of a herby taste.
